There's nothing worse than feeling isolated in unfamiliar surrounding. Trust me - I've been there.... many times. So have many other women solo travelers!  When traveling for work, it should be enjoyable and fun otherwise you wouldn't have accepted the job right?

Here are a few ways to deal with loneliness when traveling for work! You can avoid travel isolation and get social! Not to mention, you'll most likely make a few friends along the way!

1. Go out and explore

This is key! You're in a brand new city and the world had so much to offer don't just sit in your hotel room. You aren't building memories or stories to tell your Grandchildren some day. Make the most of it!

2. Reach out to your Social Networks

Hey, you may not know anyone in the city but maybe your friend or cousin or boyfriend or ex-boyfriend or mom's friends sister does. Vocalize about your travels, not only will your networks "ooh's and ah's" make you feel good, there could be someone out of your 1,500 friends traveling too!

3. Join a meet up

What better way to deal with loneliness than surrounding yourself with others who enjoy the same activities as you? Put yourself out there and join some local meetups! Step out of your comfort zone! You'd be surprised who you may run into.... let's hope not that ex!

4. Make a plan before you leave

The last thing you want to do is get to the city and sit on your phone for hours Googling "The Best Places to See While in San Francisco" or "Top Restaurants Near Me" or "The Most Unique Restaurants". Have a plan before you leave so when you arrive you're not stuck in your hotel room thinking I'm so lonely!
